  • About 2% of the US population has OCD

  • Obsessions: repetitive &  intrusive thoughts

    • Examples: contamination, harm, losing control, religious obsessions, unwanted sexual thoughts, & perfectionism

  • Compulsions: excessive urges to do certain actions that relieve the stress of obsessions

    • Examples: mental checking, hand washing, avoiding, counting,​ etc.


  • Psychotherapy

    • Exposure Response Prevention (ERP): involves working with a psychologist or licensed social worker to "face your fears" without giving into OCD (doing compulsions)

    • Intensive outpatient programs

      • Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs): act on serotonin (a brain chemical)​

NOCD is an app that was created to help people with OCD manage their obsessions, compulsions, & more. The app provides a variety of educational resources and monitors the user's Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. Additionally, the app has connections to accessible therapists & an SOS option for times of crisis.
